THE CHALLENGE
Remtek are one of the country’s leading DSA providers who have helped thousands of students with their assistive technology needs whilst in education. They are based in Salford and due to business growth they required a larger premises where they could service all their client’s needs under one roof. With many aspects to the business, they required a building that could accommodate all their office space needs but also provide space for all the storage and maintenance of all the equipment they offer. They began to look for units in the Salford area and settled for an industrial unit. The unit was fitted out with some office space, but for it to work for them they required additional office and workshop space. The unit had a warehouse area that was larger than they needed so they began to explore the possibility of a mezzanine floor solution in the warehouse.
THE SOLUTION
Remtek googled various mezzanine floor and fit out contractors and after reviewing our comprehensive portfolio section of our website (which shows projects of a similar nature), they contacted Nexus to see if we could help with their requirements. Initially Nick Dalli (Remtek general manager) made contact with David from Nexus and arranged to meet on site to run through the requirements. It was evident on site that the unit would benefit from a mezzanine floor as the company required substantial workshop, office and meeting space in addition to the existing office block. A mezzanine floor-based solution was discussed as well as the requirement for a warehouse managers office and some additional WC facilitates. Remtek required a full turn-key solution and required a company to take care of the full fit out of the building so they could concentrate on running their own business. After discussing the brief and surveying the building Nexus created a comprehensive design and quotation.

THE RESULTS
The scheme involved the installation of a mezzanine floor that took up roughly 1/3rd of the warehouse. On the ground floor are workshops complete with AC, Power, Data, Lighting, and workbenches. On the first floor are offices, again temperature controlled with power data and lighting. Within the existing offices Nexus constructed four internal managers offices to match the existing spec and again included AC, power, data, and alterations to the lighting.
In the warehouse we designed and installed a warehouse managers office and a stand-alone WC & Shower room. We are due to return late December to install pallet racking and shelving to the warehouse. Overall, the project was a huge success and was delivered on time and on budget.
