OFFICE MEZZANINE FLOOR FARESHARE YORKSHIRE
Office mezzanine floor project for a company that has been fighting hunger and tackling food waste in Yorkshire for nearly two decades.
THE CHALLENGE
Fareshare Yorkshire supports over 183 charities and community groups across 2,500 square miles of Yorkshire, covering the likes of Leeds, Sheffield, Doncaster, Huddersfield, York and much more. They provide support through the redistribution of surplus food to charities and community groups that feed the vulnerable people of various communities within Yorkshire.
Not only that but Fareshare Yorkshire also offers an employability programme funded by the Big Lottery Fund too. This features accredited QCF training in warehousing and fork lift truck operation along with mentoring support.
To be able to offer both services to more people, they needed to either move from their Barnsley premises or further extend and improve the facilities that they currently had. After much discussion they realised that it just wouldn’t be cost effective to move premises, so they looked into the potential of an office mezzanine floor which could provide them with the solution they required.
‘We’d vastly outgrown our current facilities but we didn’t want to move. We needed to create better facilities and better spaces for all our staff and volunteers to work from. We looked at many options, but the best option for Fareshare Yorkshire was to look at staying in our current premises, but expanding our facilities by the installation of a mezzanine office floor.’ – Gareth Batty, CEO, Fareshare Yorkshire
THE SOLUTION
Fareshare Yorkshire required more space for their office based employees, without using the space they had reserved for a new packing area. This is why an office mezzanine floor was the ideal solution. Creating the office space in the air and adjoining the mezzanine to their current first floor office space, whilst leaving the space below for the new packing area.
The new office mezzanine floor facilities feature a new open plan office space, complete with a large meeting room, two Director’s offices and a kitchen area. Fareshare’s branding is prominent throughout the design with green feature walls both within the open plan office and meeting room. Whilst some walls feature Fareshare Yorkshire branded decals which really add further to the design of the new offices.
The creation of this new space on the mezzanine has also allowed Fareshare Yorkshire to reconfigure some of their existing office space into new areas such as training rooms and welfare facilities. Whilst underneath the new mezzanine floor we have also installed a suspended ceiling with lighting to illuminate the new packing area.
‘This new mezzanine floor installation has made a huge difference to how our charity operates. We’ve been able to expand our whole operation all in the space of three months.’
WHY FARESHARE YORKSHIRE CHOSE NEXUS
‘So when we were looking into expanding our facilities, we looked into who would carry this work out for us and Nexus gave us the complete solution. This was to design the mezzanine floor for us and also do all the installation and all the associated works, with the facility of a Project Manager on site to manage this process.’
‘We chose Nexus by first looking at the website and seeing some of the previous works that had been carried out and it was obvious that there was a very high standard of work. It looked perfect for what we needed.’
‘The process of working with Nexus right from the start, right from the design stage and the quotation stage was absolutely spot on. We got daily contact when needed and once the project started on day one, our dedicated Project Manager managed the whole process for us.’
‘The installers worked around our daily operation, which meant we didn’t have to close any days, we could carry on doing our daily work. The standard of work and the cleanliness that the workers worked in was fantastic.’ Gareth Batty, CEO, Fareshare Yorkshire.
