THE CHALLENGE
Premier textiles are a company based in Bury who source, import, and stock high quality textiles from around the world. Originally, they had facilities in both Leeds and Bury but they needed to consolidate the operation to Bury, closing the factory in Leeds. They had a requirement to fit out a couple of industrial units and required a partner to design and build the space. Both units had existing office space but nowhere near enough floor space to accommodate the team. After searching for companies on Google they located Nexus and invited us in to discuss the requirements.
THE SOLUTION
As both units had existing offices (that were load bearing) it was clear that we could marry up to the existing structures with a mezzanine floor to increase the office space. Both units already had WC’ and kitchen facilitates so the requirement was for mainly office space, individual offices, and meeting space. After meeting the client on site and discussing the requirements we returned to the office to start the design. One of the offices needed to have the floor raised on the first floor so we could knock through to the adjoining unit. This involved installing a false floor made from timber. We then adjoined the floor with an additional mezzanine floor and installed staircases for access. The client wanted to have a full height ceiling in the first floor offices so we designed the partitions to the underside of the cladding above, then installed a timber ceiling to give a warm and attractive feel

THE RESULTS
The new office space has allowed Premier Textiles to consolidate their business over to Bury. The offices are modern and offer a great working environment for their employees to operate from. The build yet again demonstrates the flexibility of a mezzanine floor and combined with the partitioning systems offers a really competitive solution to provide these kinds of workspaces. The project was a full design and build solution and included mezzanine floor, partitions, joinery, ceilings, flooring, glazing, staircase, electrical works, AC, ventilation and much more.
