THE CHALLENGE
RBC Group are a company based in Melton Mowbray. They offer a range of services to including automated retail, manufacturing technology, asset management, payment solutions and much more. At their current facility they were quickly running out of space due to business growth and needed additional office space for the production staff. The challenge was they had occupied all the existing office space and had limited space available. They wanted to investigate a mezzanine floor solution but the building posed challenges. The building was not very high to they needed to speak with a company to find out if it was even possible to install a mezzanine floor.
THE SOLUTION
After finding Nexus Workspace on Google and viewing our previous case studies they invited us in to see if we could help. There was a space available in the warehouse that could potentially house a mezzanine floor, but the challenge was the vertical space available. The building is an old RAF base and had low ceilings. The other challenge was the sloping floor. It sloped over 100mm over 10 metres which Is a lot over such a small distance. On site we completed a thorough site survey and then it was back to the office to design up the space. The client wanted a hybrid mezzanine floor that included office space, breakout space and a storage area that they could lift up pallets onto the mezzanine floor. After initial designing up the steel work we could achieve both a 2100mm ceiling height on the ground and the first floor which the client accepted

THE RESULTS
The project was fully turn-key, designed and installed by Nexus. The project included a mezzanine floor, two staircases, handrail, a pallet gate for loading and office space. The offices included partitioning, flooring, ceilings, joinery electrics AC and more. Overall we have managed to provide a huge working area in a place that was deemed unsuitable. The key to the success of the project was designing the steel work with a narrow construction depth so that we could make the mezzanine an option. The space has now allowed RBC group the room to rehouse their production team, creating more space in the main office to expand the team.
