MEZZANINE FLOOR ACCESSORIES
Mezzanine floors have various accessories to choose from; pallet gates, staircases, handrails and much more. Here's everything you need to know about each one.
All our mezzanine floors are bespoke structures designed to your exact needs and requirements. To make sure we offer the right solution to your business, we have a range of ancillaries available to help ensure we design and build the correct solution for your business operations. From different types of pallet gates through to numerous finishes for your staircases and handrails, we have the right solution for you.
MEZZANINE EDGE PROTECTION
INDUSTRIAL HANDRAIL SYSTEMS
To comply with building regulations any exposed edge of a mezzanine floor must be protected to ensure there is always a permanent edge protecting your employees from the edge of the floor. The most common solution we provide (particularly in a warehouse environment) is an industrial handrail system.
The handrail is bolted through the mezzanine deck and fixed into the primary mezzanine steels. Manufactured from hollow box section posts with a galvanised handrail and fitted with a kick plate (to stop foreign objects being kicked off the floor such as a nuts and bolts), the system can either be spray painted or powder coated to match your company brand. Other options for your industrial handrail system include the installation of perforated panels which can be installed between the handrail posts.
STAINLESS STEEL & GLASS SYSTEMS
Very popular with our clients who are looking at office mezzanine floor solutions, a handrail system manufactured from a stainless steel handrail and upright posts is complemented with glass infill panel to offer your office environment that touch of class.
STAINLESS STEEL & STEEL STRING HANDRAIL SYSTEMS
Another option that also offers the wow factor to your office environment is a stainless steel system with steel rope instead of the glass infill panels. This system provides your office environment with a unique look and is more cost effective than the glass option. A high spec solution without the high cost.
MEZZANINE FLOOR STAIRCASES
INDUSTRIAL STAIRCASES
To access your mezzanine floor you will require a staircase. In a warehouse environment our steel staircases are the ideal solution. Hard wearing with chequer plate treads, they are designed to withstand the harsh environment of a busy warehouse. Our staircases come in a standard black colour although we can powder coat them any colour to match in with your brand requirements.
STAINLESS STEEL & GLASS HANDRAIL SYSTEMS
Incorporating a glass handrail system into your staircase will take your office environment to the next level. We manufacture bespoke staircases to your requirements. The staircase treads can be concealed with a range of flooring products such as carpet tiles, vinyl flooring or barrier matting.
STAINLESS STEEL & STEEL HANDRAIL SYSTEMS
Similar to the glass system, this option also looks great in any office environment. A more cost effective solution than the glass option, this choice is very popular with our clients as it allows you to achieve a modern look without impacting heavily on your budget. These staircases can also be finished with carpet tiles, barrier matting or vinyl flooring.
PALLET GATES
UP & OVER
Often our clients wish to load and unload materials onto their mezzanine floor on a pallet. This allows you to manoeuvre stock quickly and easily across your floor. To allow safe loading and unloading of pallets to your mezzanine you will want to consider an ‘up and over’ pallet gate. These gates are popular if your pallets are a normal size (generally 1200x1000x1500mm high). They offer a permanent edge protection for your operatives on the mezzanine. Simply load the pallet onto the mezzanine floor and flip over the pallet gate to unload the pallet.
PULLEY SYSTEM
Similar to an up and over pallet gate, these pallet gates are generally designed to accommodate large pallet sizes. They work on the same principle as an up and over pallet gate, however rather than the operative manually manipulating the pallet gate they simply pull on the pulley mechanism. These pallet gates make light work of loading large pallets onto a mezzanine floor and once again provide that all important edge protection for your operatives.
GOODS & PERSONNEL LIFTS
PERSONNEL LIFTS
Common within our office fit out projects, the size of your project and the number of staff using the mezzanine floor will dictate if your project requires a personnel lift. Our lift solutions range from a simple scissor lift solution (easy to install, one person at a time) to larger lifts that involve the installation of a pit and lift shaft.
GOODS LIFTS
Goods lifts are a popular solution for companies looking to load materials onto single or multi tier mezzanine floors. They can be designed to accommodate most pallet sizes and can be designed to act as a goods only lift or a goods and personnel lift. Our goods lifts are designed to your specific requirements.
PRODUCT CHUTES
Chutes are the perfect solution for clients looking to dispatch smaller items to the floors below the mezzanine floor. Popular with clients who use their mezzanine floors to pick and dispatch small items. This ancillary allows the pick face to be on the mezzanine floor and then the product is dispatched quickly to the dispatch areas below.
CONVEYOR SYSTEMS
AUTOMATED CONVEYORS
We work closely with specialist conveyor manufacturing companies and can design schemes to suit any busy warehouse environment. Automated systems are particularly popular with our clients in the manufacturing sector and they dramatically increase pick time and reduce overhead costs.
GRAVITY FED CONVEYORS
Similar to the automated systems, these are a simpler and more cost effective solution. They offer great flexibility to companies looking to get small items of stock from the mezzanine floor to the ground level. These solutions are popular with companies that intend to use the mezzanine floor to pick items and deliver the stock to the packing areas below.
