THE CHALLENGE

Earthing Serviced Limited, based in Mansfield, recently purchased a brand-new warehouse. The warehouse is from where the business is to operate and therefore, they required a multi-functional space. They needed space to house their raw materials, have an area to assemble parts and components and also incorporate an area for office and training space so they could teach their customers/partners about their products and services. As the space was a compact warehouse and an empty shell, they faced the challenge of designing and fitting out the space to suit their requirements.

THE SOLUTION

The design stage was a real challenge. The space within the warehouse was limited and the had height restrictions, therefore the design was complex to allow for decent head heights on either floor whilst working within the constraints of the existing building entrance and roller shutters. As the building had a nice glass frontage and an existing DDA WC and kitchen area to the rear, it made sense to run the office space from front to back. Great thought went into the design of the mezzanine to reduce the construction depth as much as possible whilst hiding the columns within the walls. The client also wanted a concealed staircase to elevate the look and feel of the office space. This involved the construction of a full height Jumbo wall to conceal the staircase and provide the required fire protection.

” We are delighted to have added another dimension to our fit outs by incorporating an interior designer to elevate the scheme” David Newsome – Sales Director

WHY THEY CHOSE NEXUS

Like all projects there are two critical stages to a successful project. Design of the space and then the implementation of the actual build. By working with Nexus, Earthing Services knew Nexus could offer a complete package, covering both bases, thus allowing them to concentrate on the important bit…running their own business.

Earthing services approached Nexus to offer a design and build solution, looking for a company to design and fit out the space to suit their requirements. During the initial meeting a list of requirements were presented to Nexus. These were: a reception space, small meeting space, breakout area (for lunch/coffee breaks etc), a training room (to seat 8/10 people) and a small office space to accommodate two people. The above needed to fit into the smallest footprint possible so they could retain as much space as possible for storage and assembly space.

Nexus took the brief and completed a comprehensive design and quotation which provided Earthing Services with the confidence that Nexus was the right company to fit out the unit for them. This combined with seeing multiple projects we have completed in the past only compounded their choice to choose Nexus as their fit out partner.

THE RESULTS

We needed to fit in a lot to a small space, and by being clever with the design we have been able to provide Earthing services with every aspect of their initial brief. Nexus offered a full design and build solution, acting as main contractor and principal designer under CDM regulations. The build included mezzanine floor, partitions, joinery, Mechanical and electrical works, flooring, bespoke joinery, office furniture and much more…

We also worked closely with our interior designer to pull together a colour scheme befitting of the Earthing services brand,  incorporating Earth tones into the colour scheme and complementing the fit out with small details like the map contours on the glass partitions.

Overall, the space worked out well and Earthing services can now enjoy working from a state-of-the-art facility at their new home in Mansfield.

“From a design and build perspective this has been a really rewarding project to work on. Although a relatively small fit out it ranks as one of our toughest to design due to the restrictive head height. We’ve managed it though, and the great thing is the space feels light and airy so the goal was achieved.”
