MILA MAINTENANCE

Headed up by Managing Director Tristan Cooke,  Mila Maintenance are a company based in Barnsley who offer repair and installation services to the social and commercial building sectors with relation to replacement windows and doors. They offer a fully certified specialist fire door installation service.

When new industrial units became available within a stone’s throw from their original warehouse, they jumped at the change to move premises. The new warehouse is a brand-new facility and will provide Mila a fantastic new base to not only service their existing customers but also grow the company.

Within the new warehouse Tristan identified that additional space was required for a staff breakout area, a private office for himself as well as a designated meeting space.

Nexus and Mila have worked together in the past when Nexus was just starting out. We installed some partitions at the old unit and Tristan had kept our details on file.

Due to organising the move Tristan needed a company who could offer a turn-key solution leaving him to co-ordinate the move and to continue keeping the business operational. Tristan picked up the phone to Nexus and got the ball rolling…

Initially the only requirement was to construct the canteen and meeting space at ground level but after meeting on site it was agreed that it made sense to build a mezzanine floor over the rooms to offer future flexibility.

Initially the mezzanine floor will be used for storage but is has been designed in a way that it can be used also for office use giving Mila flexibility with the future in mind.

The solution required was turn-key, so after meeting Tristan on site to understand the requirements we created a design and costing that included all aspects. Mezzanine floor, ceilings, partitions, plumbing, electrics, decoration & flooring.

Right as the project was due to begin the country came to a standstill with the COVID-19 pandemic. This initially put the brakes on the project but after consideration Tristan decided to push forward with the project.

The challenge was sourcing the materials, but we managed to secure everything we needed and managed the project keeping contractor separation in mind.

The project is now fully complete and provides Mila a facility to operate their business efficiency. From all at Nexus Workspace we would like to wish the whole team at Mila Maintenance all the success in the future and we look forward to working with them again in the future.

Outstanding service in a challenging time

By now we are all well aware of the impact Covid-19 has had on business, as well as on wider society, but what it has shown, not for the first time is that when things get difficult the best businesses are capable of stepping up and delivering outstanding service despite the unique challenges they are faced with.

It is against this background that I want to say a particular thanks to Nexus Workspace for their outstanding commitment in helping us to achieve the completion of our new headquarters despite much of the country being on lock down.  We had chosen them as a delivery partner for the build long before the Covid-19 outbreak, and wanted, within government guidelines on attendance and working practices to try and complete the programme in line with the original time frame.  It was important to me that we should be able to welcome our staff back from furlough when the time came directly into the new facility to give them, and our customers, a much-needed confidence and morale boost.

Nexus Workspace worked tirelessly and collaboratively throughout the lock down period alongside other contractors attending site, and their attention to safe and secure working practices was excellent.  I cannot praise them enough for their commitment in helping us to achieve our goals in the most challenging of circumstances.
