WHAT IS A WAREHOUSE
MEZZANINE FLOOR?

A warehouse mezzanine floor creates an additional level within suitable industrial premises. Instead of looking only at the footprint of the building, you can make practical use of the height available.

The new floor can support storage, shelving, picking, packing or production. We plan the space above and below together, including columns, access routes, stock movement and the activity that needs to continue around it.

WAREHOUSE MEZZANINE
FLOOR OPTIONS.

A useful mezzanine starts with what you need to do. We develop the layout around your products, equipment, people and day-to-day workflow.

01 / STORAGE & SHELVING

Give your stock
a better home.

Create room for components, boxed goods or slower-moving stock. We can plan shelving above and below the deck, working with suitable existing storage or incorporating new systems.

02 / PALLET STORAGE

Plan the load.
Plan the movement.

Where suitable, a mezzanine can accommodate palletised or bulky goods. Floor loads, pallet positions, access and the method of transferring goods are considered as one design.

03 / PICKING, PACKING & PRODUCTION

Make room for
your operation.

Bring picking, packing benches, machinery or production activity into a connected layout, with goods handling and the intended working loads designed into the project.

Need more than storage?

Warehouse mezzanines can also form part of a wider fit-out, with manager offices, kitchens, canteens, WCs or specialist rooms included where required. Clean rooms and temperature-controlled spaces need a clear project-specific brief.

Your survey. Your design. Your quotation.

DESIGNED AROUND
WHAT YOU STORE.
AND HOW YOU WORK.

We visit your premises, capture the brief and assess the practical constraints before developing the design and quotation.

01

Your building and available height.

Headroom, the existing slab, support positions, access routes and the floor area below all shape the solution.

02

Your stock, equipment and loads.

What you store, where loads are placed and how goods are moved determine the design requirements.

03

Your workflow and wider fit-out.

We can develop a coordinated scheme incorporating shelving, services and other agreed elements, supported by 3D design where appropriate.

What is a warehouse mezzanine made from?

THE WORKING DETAILS.
CONSIDERED TOGETHER.

Columns, main beams, secondary steels and decking form the floor structure. Access, edge protection and goods handling make the space usable for your operation.

Structure & decking

The column layout, main beams, secondary steels and deck specification are selected for the project loads and building. The existing warehouse slab also needs to be assessed as part of the structural design.

Stairs & access

Stair positions and access routes are planned around the people using the floor and the operation below. Goods lifts, conveyors or pallet gates can be considered where the brief requires them.

MORE STORAGE.
IN THE SAME
WORKING BUILDING.

Tennant needed additional capacity without relocating its operation. Nexus installed a storage mezzanine above an existing workshop and extended another floor, incorporating shelving and the supporting fit-out.

The project brought the structure, storage, lighting and access together to create a more organised space for parts and consumables.

Why consider a storage or production mezzanine?

BUILD UP.
MOVE YOUR BUSINESS FORWARD.

A mezzanine is an opportunity to make more of the building you have. Its value comes from a layout that genuinely supports your operation.

01

Use more of
the available height.

Explore additional working floor area without increasing the external footprint of the building.

02

Consider an alternative
to relocating.

Where the premises are suitable, extra capacity could help you keep growing in your existing location.

03

Bring different
activities together.

Combine storage, picking, packing and production in a connected layout planned around your workflow.

WAREHOUSE
MEZZANINE FLOOR
QUESTIONS.

Can a warehouse mezzanine create more storage without moving?

It can be an option where the building has suitable height, floor capacity, access and layout. A site survey helps establish how much additional usable space is practical and how it would work with your operation.

Can shelving and pallet storage be included?

Yes. Shelving, palletised storage and bulky goods can be considered in the design, subject to the appropriate loads, layout and goods-handling arrangements. We establish the requirements for your products and intended use rather than assuming a standard load suits every project.

What about picking, packing or production space?

A warehouse mezzanine can be designed for these activities where suitable. Equipment loads, working areas, lighting, power and product movement need to be included in the brief so the floor and services are designed together.

Can the warehouse keep operating during installation?

We discuss working hours, deliveries, site access and the areas needed for installation during planning. The programme is developed around the building and scope, including any temporary restrictions or disruption that need to be managed.

Do you supply the floor alone or manage the whole project?

Both options are available. We can quote for the structure or coordinate the wider fit-out, including relevant stairs, guarding, goods handling, shelving, services, rooms and staff facilities within the agreed scope.

What affects warehouse mezzanine floor cost and timescale?

Size, loading, column layout, the existing slab, access, fire requirements and additional fit-out all influence the project. A survey and clear brief help us prepare a quotation and programme specific to your requirements.
