We have now looked after Audio Technica’s workspace development at their premises in Leeds for the past seven years. When they initially moved into their warehouse, we fitted it out entirely, including an update to their office facilities, a mezzanine floor, pallet racking and warehouse lighting.

At the time, the WC facilities were not in need of sprucing up, however over time the facilities have become outdated and inadequate for Audio Technica’s needs. Therefore the Managing Director of Audio Technica Adrian Rooke, invited Nexus in once again, this time to design and implement the refurbishment of their WC facilities.

Adrian wanted the WC facilities to have a modern vibe, something that was also desired, the last time we worked with Audio Technica when we created a new ‘Starbucks style’ breakout area. With the number of new staff taken on in recent years, Adrian also wanted us to try and make better use of the space available.

After conducting a site survey, we discovered that we were quite limited with our options due to the fact that the rooms couldn’t be extended any further than they already where. However there was a small lobby area in the entrance that we managed to remove to create that little bit of extra space.

This resulted in us being able to create on extra cubicle in the first floor male and female WC along with an extra urinal in the male WC. Once Adrian received the 2D and 3D visuals we created, he signed off on the job and we got to work on creating the program of works.

As we were refurbishing the WC’s on both the ground and first floor, we had to ensure that Audio Technica’s employees had access to WC facilities whilst we were carrying out the work. Therefore we staged the build, working on only one WC at a time.

We also carried out the works, outside normal working hours, to minimise disruption even further. Our Project Managers Adam and Wade ensured that the surroundings were protected during the removal of the existing fixtures and fittings. We removed the doors to the WC facilities to ensure they weren’t damaged, whilst we also used floor and handrail protection.

The project was a complete refurbishment and involved the installation of new vanity units, IPS panels, commercial vinyl flooring, suspended ceilings and the re-tiling of all the walls.
